We at UTIKAD are all very excited that the time for the Congress of the Southeast European Freight Forwarders and Logistics Operators has arrived and the industry members are getting together in Istanbul. Delegates from more than 10 countries will discuss the Intermodal Transport dynamics in the region. They will also enjoy networking opportunities with their partners.
We are very proud of the tremendous support received from all of our sponsors. The
leaders of the logistics industry have given their contribution to UTIKAD as an appreciation
of what we have delivered to the sector in 25 years.
I cannot thank enough to all our sponsors but especially to ISTANBUL CHAMBER OF
COMMERCE and TURKISH AIRLINES.
ICOC - Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, being the world's 5th largest trade chamber
has named the logistics industry as 'the strategic sector in Turkey' in its working program
for 2011. They are one of the biggest supporters of UTIKAD's activities in last years and
today. ICOC always encouraged us to establish national and international impact. ECOLPAF, Federation of the ECO Countries Logistics Providers Association could not have been formed without their support. This time Istanbul Chamber of Commerce will be with us in the congress which will enable participants to meet not only with the logistics companies in Turkey but the users of the industry, the exporters and importers. One should take into consideration that almost 40% of foreign trade of Turkey is realized by the members of Istanbul of Chamber of Commerce.
TURKISH CARGO has achieved incredible growth in last 5 years. Today their network comprises of 178 destinations served by a fleet of 164 aircrafts, 5 of them being cargo aircrafts. Even while writing this, their fleet and network is expanding with the South East Europe Region as an area they are very much focused. Participants of our event will have the chance to learn more about their service configurations directly from TURKISH CARGO officials. As being the sole representative of the air freight forwarders in Turkey, it gives UTIKAD a great pleasure to have TURKISH CARGO with us during our event.
I would like to draw your attention to the fact that in 2010 Turkish economy was the
largest growing economy in Europe and the 3rd in the world after China and India. The
construction sector, which always is considered as the engine of all economies, is now the
2nd largest after China. In other words, 'we are building the world'.
For 2023, the 100th anniversary of the Republic, Turkey has a target to reach to 1,2 billion
dollars of foreign trade volume. And UTIKAD has a target to be a facilitator of reaching this goal from the logistics point of view and help bringing the country to top 10 in World Bank's Logistic Performance Index. These are a few of the reasons why everyone is now focused on great development potential in Turkish Logistics Sector. Until recently we were discussing about the introduction of logistics centers in Turkey but now we consider
the entire land of Turkey as one international logistics center.
Come join us in Istanbul to UTIKAD's 25th anniversary and discover what Turkey has
to offer to you from its great development dynamics. We all would be very pleased to welcome you!
